Queen of the South tells the powerful story of Teresa Mendoza, a woman who is forced to run and seek refuge in America after her drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. In the process, she teams up with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run.
Great act, great story, trilling all the time. As in the real narco world, all the roles are merciless, killing is normal thing. Everything would have been perfect if mexican-mexican dialogs had been in Spanish. Instead, the fact they speak English (mostly), make it a bit unrealistic, even for mean non-english native speaker.
I gotfarseason one, episode four, and was obliged to shut it down. I was enjoying the show, loved the actors and the story….but the English subtitles, whenever Spanish was spoken, were starting to get me down. I couldn't read them fast enough, before they disappeared. I generally avoid any films with subtitles, but took a chance on this one because the language was declared'English' on the IMDb file.
